Waves’ breaking has become a metaphor for the experiences of this year, attached to a personal narrative, one that is bound to the feelings of a time of immense shifts. Like the continuous motion of waves forming, familiarity has become an anchor, finding solace in repeating shapes and forms known to my hands, the repetition has allowed for a cathartic practice and a greater sense of slowness.

Unpredictable in there own way, a wave may leave its mark behind, a lasting impression. Within these pieces kintsugi is present, repairing these fractures has been an empowering part of the process, acting as gentle reminder that the marks left can be mended and with time a reminder of the resilience and strength that was needed to let go of the personal narratives we find ourselves so attached to and to be able to carry on to welcome new ones.
